I didn't write last month. So, let's talk about reading instead...

August was a ROUGH reading month. I only finished 3 books... I admit I DNF'ed a lot of books last month. I just couldn't find things I was connecting with.

That said, I did start The Wandering Inn, which is a long book (48 hours in audiobook). For the uninitiated, an hour of an audiobook is around 10,000 words on average, so this thing is a certified door stopper at around 480,000 words. In case you're trying to put the size of this book into perspective, it's longer than all 4 books in my Deals of the Damned series, and This Inevitable Ruin by Matt Dinniman clocks in at 870 pages and 270,000 words.

What Comes Next?

Great question... I'm currently reading a book called The Lost Story, which is billed as a modern day fairy tale. It really makes me want to work on another fairy tale retelling while I work on my "potions series" (it's a terrible working title and will change) in the background.

I've wanted to do a Prince Lindworm retelling for a while, but I'm not 100% how to do it with a villainous twist. I'd also like to do an Aged Bride retelling, but that one's either going to end up being a whole novel or about 5000 words MAX with absolutely in between. Then again, the original fairy tale is so short, 5000 words is longer by a long shot. Anyway, I'd love to hear your opinions. What fairy tales would you like to see me retell?

For the record, I'd prefer ones that are a bit more niche rather than Cinderella or Snow White, but I will definitely put into consideration the ones my readers are most interested in.
